Interdisciplinary issues of ecological transition: contributing to decision-making in an anthropocene context
This summer school is designed for postgraduate and doctoral students from all disciplines and with an interest in the challenges of decision-making in the context of socio-ecological transition, including at times of crisis (e.g. forest fires, flooding).
Course content explores how reflexivity and interdisciplinary approaches can help address complex sustainability issues in the Anthropocene. During this summer school, students will learn to critically appraise decision-making processes in an original and interdisciplinary manner - and with a view to applying new decisional methods to address a range of sustainability issues and environmental challenges in different domains. Interactive workshops and real-world case studies complement the theoretical sessions, enabling participants to analyse and experiment with decision-making processes applied to concrete socio-environmental problems and risks.
"In the context of the Anthropocene, where the risks of collapse of an unsustainable development model are increasing, an interdisciplinary approach to sustainability science is required for ecological transition."
