Timetable & learning outcomes
Throughout this summer school, renowned and engaged speakers will explore how decision-making for socio-ecological transitions can and must be informed by interdisciplinary research. Morning sessions will be dedicated to conceptual and applied exercises introducing key frameworks needed to be able act with an ‘Anthropocene’ mindset, including:
- Anthropocene and sustainability concepts
- Classical versus Anthropocene-aware decision-making models
- Stakeholder and systems’ mapping
- Barriers and levers of change
- Interdisciplinary methods for transition research.
These presentations will be complemented by structured discussions and short introductory videos available online, ensuring a common knowledge base for all participants.
Afternoons will focus on hands-on, challenge-based learning: this includes case studies led by scientific experts, role-playing exercises, as well as a collective, group-based, full-scale survey of the decision-making ecosystem for biodiversity and heatwave prevention in the city, in conjunction with the University of Bordeaux's "living labs" led by the Institute for Transitions (University of Bordeaux). On the final morning, participants will be assessed based on the presentation of the results of this collective survey.
Please note: the schedule is presented in Central European Summer Time (CEST).
